Whenever I turn off my PC and later switch on again, I have to go through all the signing on again, as I get `The system could not sign you on etc, etc, ` I then have to sign in below my photo to gain access. Then if I want to read my e-mails I have to sign in again. Surely once I`m `logged on` once should be enough as I am the only user. Is there a better way?

you can kill the logon by changing the password
the new password leave blank and just hit enter

e-mails - some readers allow you to remember the password - have a look at the config options

The system could not sign you on ??????
when does this one kick in?
Question Author
ACtheTroll. As I mentioned at the beginning of my question that as soon as I switch on my computer a window pops up with `The System could not sign you on as it doesn`t recognise etc, and then I have to enter my password and wait a moment to be transferred to Virgin Media Homepage to sin in again to read my e-mails.
I will try killing the logon as you have suggested to-morrow when I switch on again.
I also tick the `Remember my password` option many times.
Hoping you will see this reply and advise. TIA
there are so many error messages - you need to be more specific

The System could not sign you on as it doesn`t recognise etc

need a series of events
when - before windows - before logging on to windows, as soon as logged on to .... get the idea

etc ... what exactly does etc represent?

ACthe TROLL. Here in detail as it appears on screen
1/ Windows
2/ Windows is starting up
3/ (Greyed out) Windows Home edition (Window)
4/ Logon Message. `The system could not log you on` Make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type your password again.
5/ WINDOWSxp To begin, click your user name. Type your password.
6/ WELCOME
7/ DESKTOP APPEARS.

this is odd - it sounds like you are (or at least have been) part of a domain.

unfortunately - while it's easy to config in XP pro = in home ... it's a pig
XP home isn't really meant to do this - so it's a bodge

there is a free utility to set up access ... so
http://www.x-setup.net/downloads/home.asp

and it should also make it easy to remove

open - goto
network | windows | Setup - clear the domain info - reboot ... and that's it

you can also configure auto logon for windows as well ... so it will (should) solve all your problems

but be warned - this is a system tweaker ... it's good - there are tons of "improvements" available

... but it can be dangerous
you can easily "configure" your system into the dustbin ... be careful - and don't get too off road
