I usually try to create my own music compilations within 'My Music' folder/s, as I cannot seem to do that within WMP. When I open Windows Media Player to play the music, the tracks have all been split up into different albums! Is it possible to synchronise the two applications? I have tried to alter the tag information, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I have WMP Version 11 on XP. I have tried to download the Windows Media Bonus Pack as well, but that doesn't seem to work either. Please help!!

it is the tags that are causing it to split them in to albums, and to be fair it's only doing what it's meant to.

to do what you want in WMP is going to be a bit of a nightmare, if you remove the tags then they will all be listed as "unknown artist"

seeing as you are sorting them into folders anyhow using WMP seems to be a bit of a heavy handed way of playing them.

I would suggest downloading winamp

http://www.winamp.com/player/free-download-ful l?lang=en-us

Install it and it will add two entries to the menu you get when you right click on things, play in winamp and enqueue in winamp, you can then open you music folder and say you have a folder in there call comp1 with 10 tracks in it just right click on the folder and select play in winamp and all files in that folder will be played (if you want to play another folder straight after the first one then right click on that and select enqueue in winmap and those tracks will be added to the end of the current playlist)

Thanks! I'll give it a try - It's a pity that tracks can't be copied and edited in WMP - it would make life a lot easier!
You can create playlists in WMP and that should do what you are trying to achieve very quickly and easily.

Creating and using playlists are fine - the problems arise when I synch my MP3 player with WMP and the files appear differently on the MP3 player, and when I create folders in 'My Music' and they appear differently when I open WMP. If I could get the folders to appear as they do in 'My Music' when I open WMP or use my MP3 player that would be fantastic! Thanks for the tip though!
