I want to buy a web cam for a 70 year old friend to keep in touch with her grandchildren. I presume I would have to buy two, one for my friend and one for the grandchildren. What else is needed or is it just plug in and go? Do you have any recommendations as to which ones to buy and where to buy them. I am completely in the dark and also non technical.

most webcams would come with an installation disk so all the software required would be on that. even if you bought two then ther relevant software would be bundled with its webcam. You can then start chatting via video link using an application such as Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype /windows/) or MSN Messenger (http://download.live.com/?sku=messenger).Finally when choosing a webcam try to get one with an inbuilt microphone if your computer or laptop does not have one. I hope that this helps.
reasonably priced now get them in asda or tescos
