Could be a 101 reasons. What is your operating system? Have you tried all the normal routes such as disk cleanup, defragmenting, scan disk etc. Have you recently added hardware/software? Could be a conflict in there somewhere. What is the error message exactly, does it give you a reference? You will need all this type of information before you can start sorting the problem. Let us know and maybe someone will be able to help.
