Ipod Freeze

My IPOD freezes up and will stay frozen until the battery is dead. No buttons will work and the screen is lit up, any body know what the cause is. Or is it beyond repair and time to buy a new one.

Have you tried the recognised method of unfreezing ? Hold down the menu and centre button together for +/- 30 sec. or longer if required. It usually works for me but please excuse me if I'm trying to teach my grannie to suck eggs!

I'd try what wasp suggests, holding down play/pause and centre button for several seconds until something happens.

If that doesn't work, then I'd try connecting it to your computer and using iTunes' restore feature if possible.

Does it show anything on screen? A sad face?

No, i have not tried that. Usually just let the battery die and start again. Next time it freezes i will try. Many thanks.
