Weird Facebook Problem

About 2 weeks ago I got a friend confirmation from someone I'd never heard of. Turned out to be a distant friend of my DIL. The last few days I've had several new friend confirmations from people I don't know. It's freaking me out a bit. Any ideas, folks? I am currently running a deep down virus scan, but have no idea if that is the prob, not very technically minded.

Hi Megan :o)

Do you have all your secruity settings set to high on FB? Could be cos you have accepted one then all of a sudden you are appearing to others on their friends list and they are asking you to join to get their friends numbers up.
I only have 36 friends (most of them ABers too) and been on over a year so clearly that is not important to me!!! ;o)

I've just had a blinding flash of clarity, I recently 'joined' a group on FB that I supported the idea of. Could that've opened the floodgates, anyone?
