comp wont play video clips on you tube

my dell laptop will no longer play video clips on you tube or facebook . i tried to download the latest adobe flashplayer but the instllation does not complete. i have been told that mozilla firefox is a better browser so i downloaded that, i again tried to download the latest flashplayer and although the installation gets further now it tells me to close firefox to allow the installation then just stalls and still doesn't install

any ideas?


also when i try to play a video on youtube it says my java is disabled or i need the latest adobe flashplayer. how do you enable java?

go there but halfway down page you need to click on non ie


otherwise it will play ok on internet explorer but not on firefox or opera
