BT Broadband and Voyager Modem

I recently reinstalled XP. However I forgot to remove my Voyager modem from the usb port at the back. Since then I havent been able to install BT Broadband. Is the modem broke, or does this not affect it? It may also be just the install cd, which is quite old.

It shouldn't make too much difference.  If you just unplug the modem and make sure the software is unistalled.  Then restart your computer and install from CD like normal. 

 

I have installed a few of the Voyager modems and routers and they have not always installed first time.  Sometimes it looks as if it hasn't installed properly, but then after a hard reboot (turning off the computer at the mains) it worked. 

 

If that still does not work try contacting BT, but go through to their sales phone number (as it's free or lo-call) and ask for help with broadband, otherwise I think the main broadband help line is charged at 50p a min or something like that (it was a few months ago when I last installed one).

XP has probably installed generic drivers for your external USB modem. Simply download the latest XP drivers from the BT site (I found this http://www.voyager.bt.com/usb105/downloads.htm ) then re-install it.
