Can anyone please explain?

The points system in this years motor racing...I used to watch it but have'nt bothered for a few years. But i have noticed that the drivers points table shows drivers with half points! Can anybody explain how it works now? Thanks

The half points are from the Malaysian GP (I think). The race was stopped early due to heavy rain and due to the shortness of the race only half points were awarded, so a driver who should have got 7 only got 3.5...thus the half point.

sddsddean is correct... only the fifth race since the F1 championship started in 1950 to end with half-points awarded.
