Her indoors is a keen novel reader and I want to buy her an ebook player, but know bu99er all about them.

Can you get a website that has a good supply of novels to download onto you PC and then to your ebook?

You can buy current books in ebook format from Waterstones.

Sqad... if your ''better half'' already has an iPod, that will also 'play' e-books...

hc4361.....that link seems a better deal.

When they arrive, are they in a disc form that you have to download on your PC and then transfer them to a ebook player?
As far as I know, the Waterstones eBooks are downloaded from the internet with a licence to use it.
If you are interested in the Sony Reader it is currently 149 at Play.com.

It comes with a disk containing 100 out of copyright books, like Jane Austen, Woodhouse and Conan Doyle.
Good information about downloading and using the Waterstone books here.

hc.....thanks, i have checked both links.

The old lady is worried that the novels that she reads are not available........however you have been very helpful...thanks.
my preferred way of doing e-books is an mp3 player - mine cost 20 and it's loud enough to be heard on a plane - which with voice is all you need.

next door has a reader - ok i the correct light - not best on the beach - and impossible to use in a car (even if you're not driving)

audiobooks are available from libraries as well - to buy they cost anything from 15 - 150 (the h potter books)
