Desktop Picture

Until now I have been able to put my favourite photo`s on my desktop, but now when I try to change one for another, the previous picture remains, and the new one only shows for a split second when I turn my computer off. What can I do to rectify the problem please?. TIA

could be a few things,

Check you've not got the current pic set as a desktop web item as this will make it an overlay to any other pic you choose.

click start > Control Panel > Display icon, Click the Desktop tab then click on customize desktop, click on the Web tab in and make sure nothing has a tick in it.
