hooked laptop to tv through HDMI and need to change screen size

when i first plugged it in a little screen popped up asking to choose screen size but i chose the wrong one.I now need to change screen to fit but cant find how to do it.The screen is big and i cannot see my task bar.I have tried turning on and off again but the screen just automaticaly comes on now!

Right-click a blank area in the desktop, and click properties.

(I'm assuming you're using Windows.)
