Laptop to PC connection

Is there a way to connect my laptop to my PC's hard disk? i cant actually boot the PC up as there is a missing system file.

All i want to do is get some files off my PC onto he laptop!

There is a laptop hard drive IDE convertor (see http://shopping.lycos.co.uk/5727en1518762.html ) which will allow you to put you laptop hard drive on a workstation PC IDE chain.
