Acknowledging empty cells in excel

I have the name of a person in cell A1
Cell B1 then copies this names automatically and remain blank if A1 is blank (i.e. no error message appears)
I then want cell B1 to go back to being blank if cell C1 has an entry in it
I have started the forumla for B1, but cannot figure out the latter part:

=IF(A1=0,"",A1)

Can anybody please help?
