Police and Customs & Excise Auctions

Do these really exist?  Auctions where unclaimed stolen goods etc are sold at auction?  If they do does anybody know where they take place or how often, any details really.  The only info I can find on the web want payment to give you "secretly guarded information"  but surely this is a scam.

i went to one a few years back , some interesting stuff there , but mostlt car radios , i remember it was advertised in the local paper so its not secretly guarded info...dont pay to find out , check your local press
