Can anyone reccomend a good anti-virus package for 2005? I previously had Norton 2002, but ive heard mixed reports about their new products.

Also, if a currently have a virus, will it be removed upon installation of a new up-to-date product?

Thanks.

try avg - free and reliable in my experience

I was about to say the same thing!! I have also found that it picks up things that Norton has missed!

Here's a link to the AVG sofrware

http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/1/

i too use avg available free of charge from grisoft.com

i have it set-up so it updates daily

I have Panda Titanium 2004  and it's absolutely brilliant.

It updates itself  about 3 or 4 times a day every day - and since I've had it (3 years) I haven't had one single virus as it spots and disinfects immediately.

It's not free, but worth every penny for peace of mind.

The best free one which is also self-updating is Avast from http://www.avast.com You will need to uninstall your Norton first by using the original Norton installation disk. Having installed the new A/V software, do a full system scan to check for any resident virii and remove them if necessary.
