Both the mains electricity and the tv system (PAL I) are the same in South Africa as in UK. So there should be no problems.
I don't think so. TV's  bought here don't work in Denmark which is also PAL. So I doubt if it'll work in SA
Most modern TVs will work on PAL, PAL1 or NTSC, becuae the circuitry is so cheap it is easier for the mannufacturers to mass produce sets that work anywhere. There is usually a set up menu that can enable you to change from one to the other. I do not say this is universally true, doubtless there are tvs that are different, so check carefully the specification of the set you are thinking of buying.
Denmark uses PAL B and PAL G, neither of which is compatible with PAL I the UK system. South Africa uses PAL I - exactly the same as the UK. As Didwot notes, many modern tvs are multisystem and will work almost anywhere, but any tv that works in the UK should work in South Africa.
Your TV should work, but it maybe easier just to sell it here, and buy a new TV in SA. What with the exchange rate and all. It will save in shipping costs.

I can also confirm this as I have relatives there and their stuff is PAL I - no probs.

as another poster pointed out, shipping the darn thing there is not worth it these days, with sets being so cheap and the favourable exchange rate with the rand means you 'll be able to pick one up there for buttons!
