If one uses the Insert>Fields>Date menu item, the format of the date that is inserted into the document is mm/dd/yy i.e. the American format.
Is it getting this from a system setting or is there some way to get it to use another format - e.g. dd/mm/yy - as the default? (I know that one can use the Other option in the Insert>Fields menu to use other formats but I would like to set my own default.)
I can't find anything in the Writer options nor by internet searching (so far); if it requires a change in the registry then that wouldn't be a problem for me - but I've had a quick look and can't see anything there either.
If I may make another suggestion?
If you are getting the date printed in the American style then I think you have WRITER set for the ENGLISH (USA) language.
Go to TOOLS/ OPTIONS/ LANGUAGE SETTINGS/ LANGUAGE and change the language to ENGLISH (UK) and the date format should also change to the English format.
I did say in my original posting that I know about Other for other formats but that I looking to set the default to a format of my choice e.g. dd/mm/yy which is the norm in th UK.
