I have new ipod touch which has built in speakers, but when I plug my earphones in the built in speakers are also playing , and I never realised this until on the train this morning the film I was watching was also blaring out to everyone else.

On the 1st generation Ipod touch there was an option in the setiings to use either speakers or headphones or both (which seemed stupid as the 1st generation never had speakers!!!!)

Can anyone help me and save me from further embarrassment.........?

Sounds daft, but try plugging in and out the speakers a few times. This can be caused by muck getting down the plug jack.

Failing that, get it replaced.

Thanks for your suggestion Gromit, But I have actually rang Apple and they said to take it back to argos and get it replaced , so I am going to.
If Argos try and send it for repair (they did with my ipod) stamp your feet and demand a new one.
