Just be sure you haven`t any clues to your bank account that can be used by anyone else in the memory.
stick a password on it they do'nt need to get by it to service it
If its anything like car servicing they will spend a few minutes ticking the boxes on a standard form.
Since when have computers needed an annual service anyway? It's not as if they need attention to help the electrons flow more smoothly, the way a car needs an oil change.
Should be a simple case of saving abit of money by doing to the old Microsoft site and asking it whether any software updates haven't got done.
last answer was on the ball - your computer is as safe as the last person to "fiddle" with it. There's little go wrong mechanically and electrically should work for years. Electronically after a few days any faults should show themselves quickly so again after a week in use there should be little to worry about. If well "protected" with AVG/Norton/McAfee software will run the programs without problems and updates will keep the system "clean"
So "servicing" is a bit of a figment of the imagination and cash in the bank for nothing for Currys/ Dixons/ PC World etc. Buildersmate is my mate ! even though I've never met him/ her
Well you are handing your machine over to someone you don't know and you are not going to be there watching while that person does whatever is involved in the "service". It would be sensible to make sure that anything you don't want someone else to see on your machine isn't on it when you hand it over.

I must say I agree with buildersmate and marray about the "service", there is very little that needs servicing - perhaps open it up and clean out any dust, use a lens cleaner on the CD/DVD drive, check the memory is seated properly, ditto cables. If your user accounts aren't password protected they might check for the latest OS updates and driver updates, possibly defrag the drive and run chkdsk but that's about it. It's all stuff you could do for yourself
anual service!!!!!.............. is this a joke, wat an earth does your pc need an annual service for, just de frag it, clear the cache on internet options and hey u got a fine working pc, thats wat they will do, i presume and nick your details etc, i would not trust anyone with my pc thats silly man, more money than sense
Isnt this the way they caught Gary Glitter?
If it aint broke dont fix it !
Hi, I had the misfortune to deal with PC World in the past and found their engineers seemed to have less idea on fixing my PC than I did and I only know the basics. As the others on here have said, what they do on one of these so called Health Checks is something most people will be able to do their selves and as PC World, Dixons and Currys are all owned by the same company it's all money in the same bank.
Its a waste of time . You can do more harm carrying it backwards and forwards in the car than several years of use.
