how do I stop a screensaver and restore the images to their files please ?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.yes, sorry chuck. am a complete ignoramus on the computer. can do the basics but anything fancy is beyond me. in fact having the screensaver was accidental. it cnsists of photographic images which I want to remove and have access to the images as single items. you're probably none the wiser, but that's the best I can do. sorry
You should still have access to the photos.
The screensaver will be looking at the folder with the photos in.
To change screensaver have mouse over a clear part of 'desktop' press right mouse button and select 'properties' at bottom, then select 'screensaver' tab and then change from 'my pictures slideshow' in pull down section under 'screen saver'

Right click anywhere on an empty part of your desktop, select properties and then click on the screensaver tab
In there I expect you have got the "my pictures slideshow" set as the screensaver, first off click the settings button, on this page you will be able to see where the pictures are stored, if it says something like "C:\Documents and Settings\USER-NAME\My Documents\My Pictures" then it's taking it's pictures from your normal picture folder in my documents so you can find the files for the pictures there.
Once you know where the pictures are then you can eitehr select another screensaver from the list or just select none for no screensaver at all
If by chance it's not the "my pictures slideshow" set as the screensaver post back with what it is set to
