No sound on a downloaded Youtube clip.

The downloaded clip will play, but there is no sound. I got a message telling me to download something called Codec, which I have done - but the clip is still playing without sound.

Can anyone help with this, please?

Hiya Chuck. Thanks for reply. I have just downloaded that and I still can't get any sound. The following message comes up:

GOM Player cannot play the media file in normal process. You don't have the necessary codec to play. Please click "Find Codec" button on the right. Codec Finder will help you to install Codec". I don't know if this is relevant, but it's an MP4 clip that I am trying to play.

I have clicked the "Find Codec" button too, and still no sound. [:o(

Silly question, but you did install it?

If you did try right clicking on the file and then select open with and then windows media player

Ooh, it's getting a bit complicated now Chuck. Right, I'll have another go ..... (Don't really know if I installed it or not, tbh. It's bloomin' hard when you don't know what you're doing). [:o(

Chuck, I'm not sure what I've done, but the sound has come on! The icon has changed for the clip, so I've changed something. Wish I knew more about computers.

The Icon has changed because your default player for the clip will now be window media player (when it was gom)

you can change it back, but it's not really important as it doesn't really matter what opens the video, as long as it does open and play ok.
