I have chosen to assign key "Ctrl+ D" to the degrees symbol.
When I type this combination in a word document, all is fine as the symbol appears correctly.
However, when I try to paste "Ctrl+D" in either Find or Replace, nothing appears in the "find whar" or "replace with" box.
Can anyone suggest what is wrong please.

I don't think those key assignations work in the Find/Replace box - you will have to either copy/paste from one of the symbols already existing in your document, or hold down ALT and type 176 on the keypad in the Find/Replace box.

Aquariel: Thanks for your suggestion. I have now tried both, but get no response in the find/replace boxes when I press Alt+176, and am not able to paste into either box.
Aquariel was almost right - you need to type "Alt+0176" in the Find/Replace box.
