Is there any organistion/charity which will take and recycle/send overseas/break for parts etc TV sets which are in perfect working order but now useless in UK after the digital switch.

I'm reluctant just to get rid at the local household waste recycling plant (tip to you and me) if there's another life for them elsewher

try
freecycle.co.uk
also, if the TV set has a scart socket it is pervectly capable of being used after the digital switrch over, and that should be most sets up to 15 years old!
sorry

if you join your local freecrcle group you will off load the TV really quickly.
Why get rid - why not just buy a freeview box?
free-view box works great
Even if it doesn't have a scart socket, there are many Freeview boxes which have an RF modulator, so you would connect via the aerial - just like you would have connected a video recorder in "the good old days"

Other than old 415 line sets from the late 40s and early 50s I can't think of a single TV set that can't somehow be used to receive digital signals after DSO in your region.

If you really are that thick that you can't figure this out, then get them on Freegle (or Freecycle) where people will be only too happy to benefit from your technophobia!

Thanks for all these.

I'm not a technophobe - we were upgrading the TV anyway and the old one just became spare. Samebody has to help kickstart the economy!!!

I've now registerd with my local Freecycle group and am benefitting from 50+ emails a day from them!!
