Do you agree with the 20mph speed limits in towns said to reduce accidents by 40%.

or

Do you think it may cause confusion to the driver with a multitude of limits with 30,40 and 50mph?

Would a restricted system like having the 20mph limit only operable between certain hours be more beneficial?

There's so many idiotic drivers on the road that the only thing that will keep the roads safe is to have more speed limits and fines.

It would only be more confusing to have variable operating times.

If it reduces casualties by 40% that can only be good!

Obviously they don't trust the drivers to keep to 20mph. They have calming measures such as speed humps.
i hate 20mph speed limits, most towns are at a snails pace - ok so at rush hour etc or weekends near retail parks.
most of the speed humps in this area are square ones which can be straddled by most cars, a bit of a bugger if you're on 2 wheels & you forget,
fines are a waste of time cos i aint been caught speeding for bloomin ages (now i've done it) 30 years+
bit like the phone issues for drivers - nobody to enforce it unless youre really unlucky.
no i dont ever use my phone when driving.

would it work NO not in my opinion

If it reduces accidents by 40% why don't they go the full hog and reduce it by 100%. How? Make it a traffic free zone for long periods of the day.

In side streets I think 20 is ample. That's where the children play as well. I'm not a Sunday driver but since my Son and I got knocked over my attitude has really changed.

Being hit by a car hurts...
in portsmouth, all of the side streets ae 20 mph
i think its confusing all the differnt limits...theres a road by me that is very long an os 50 all the way - except for a section about 200yards long where its 40 and even has one of those 'your speed' sensors!! the road seemsto be the same as the rest of it...its largely wooded or walls...cant fathom why they chose to do that...on the same road it informs you that the start of the road is 30 - then literally about 50 feet on its 50...waste of signage surely

i do think there shoudl be more signs tho, maybe painted on the road surface...its annoying suddenly wondering ifyou are speeding, and having to analyse your surroundngs becausetheres no signs
