Odd JVC DVD Player

Playback of DVDs on my JVC player has gone strange. The DVD picture does appear and has normal motion but has a distinct pink tint. The sound is inaudible, even with the TV volume turned up to the max. Can anyone help?

(Just thought I'd add that a DVD that worked improperly in my player worked fine on the DVD player incorporated within my PC.)

is this plugged into a TV then? or another PC?

Sounds like something as simple as a loose/bad cable. If you can swap out the scart lead for another and test it out.

Are you sure that the DVD-palyer supports the DVD-discs regional code. Movies from asia or america is often unplayable on european dvd-players

When our TV screen had a pink tinge to it, the engineer said it was something to do with magnetic fields - whatever that meant.

in response to Shatnerfan: try using another connection method, such as phono leads instead on euroSCART cable. Try unplugging the unit from the mains and reconnecting .

 

In response to smudge: the tv's colour distortion can be caused by the tube being slightly magnetised; powering the unit off  and then on again from the mains will degauss the tube. this sometimes happens if you leave it on standby for ages without switching off fully. The degauss circuit only operates at 'hard' on-off.

Failing that, a weak gun in the tube for one of the 3 colours or component drift with age can cause it.
