My HP d6160 inkject ran out of yellow ink. Replaced the catridge and then immediately an error message was displayed on the pc "Ink system failure". Will not print at all now. Tried another cartridge....uninstalled and reinstalled printer...same problem.

I think this can happen if air gets into the ink system. Anyone have a solution please? It's a good printer and would be a shame to junk

Not tried that but did try yet another cartridge. Also gently wiped the ink nozzles on the printer with cotton bud. Tried taking all cartridges off and then putting them on again. Tried cleaning process a few times using software tool. Same message.
