Have done this for a while but when I did I used Limewire which was free - however my friend was telling me you have to pay for your downloads. Is that true or is there a free one somewhere. Thanks

Buy the cd's from Amazon or Play.com You can listen to free samples. A lot of charity and second hand shops have cds at good prices. You can sometimes find a gem or two!

I don't know the website but you can get free, legal downloads but you have to listen to advertsaswell, any other free downloads are illegal unless they are samples.

I think you are referring to Spotify. You can stream them but now download them (unless of course you set your sound recorder on but that's another story)

You friend may be right, whether or not the actual website says it's free, your internet provider still charges you a bill, regardless. It's just because you download and you get charged for how many Mega Bytes you download. It shouldn't be much. At the end of the month, though, you may be bombarded with bills from your provider for downloading so much music. That's all, though. Tell you friend they're right and smart. Merry Christmas.
