What is the difference between LCD tvs and LED tvs.? LEDs seem to be appreciably moe expensive.

Be careful. most of the time, the supposed LED TVs are just a normal LCD with an LED backlight NOT a proper LED screen. There is little point in investing in one if you expect some great leap forward, as they still seem to suffer the same defects as LCDs.

The other thing you might like to consider is that the biggest selling point of the LED backlight seems to be that they can make the telly even thinner. That just means that the sound will be even cr@ppier than it is on most LCD TVs.
