floppy discs

My floppy disks wont open with windows xp.  They where no problem with windows 98 but xp says they are not formatted even though there is data on them.  Can u help?

What format is your floppy disk? FAT or NTFS? If the format on the floppy disk is different from the format on the computer it wont work until you change the format
Yeah this is a problem with Windows XP...easiest way to sort this out would be to take the discs and put them into a PC running Windows 98, 95 or ME...doesn't really matter...transfer all your files to CDR and there ya go. Format the floppies under windows XP if you want to use them. A local PC repair shop would do that for you for about �15 or so (that's how much we would charge anyway)
