I have put a Samsung DVD 22X RW in my pc, but when a Dvd-r disc is inserted, according to My Computer, it is now a CD drive. Getting no help from Samsung or the supplier, apart from return it. Should I have been supplied with a disc to create a driver

You don't need drivers for a DVD drive.

What version of windows? windows XP can not write DVD's without extra software.

ashampoo burning studio will write DVD's for free

Your seemed to have asked the whole question in the "topic" area.

The topic should be a brief "Samsung DVD Drive" or something like that.

You then enter the full question in the space underneath.
Does the drive definately take DVD disks (it is not CD only)?

Does it support both DVD minus AND DVD plus disks (some support only one or the other)?

Check the documentation.
Think the DVD 22x RW is a hint it might be a DVD drive.

And you've not been able to buy DVD drives that are not multi format for several years now.

Thank you for your help, but I am sending it back to Microdirect for an exchange. To answer VHG it is supposed to take both cd and dvd discs. All that I am trying to do, is to burn films off my pc on to a dvd disc to be able to watch in comfort on my DVD player.
