Virgin Media Broadband Modem Replacement problem.
3 Answers
If I suspect an intermittent Modem Fault on my Virgin Media Broadband Surfboard 4200 modem can I just substitute my neighbours identical modem to try it out for a few days.
I have just tried this but got no internet connection at all beyond the router (wired connections).
I am guessing it needs to aquire the MAC address of the replacement modem in order to connect but I thought it did this automatically.
My PC is connected through a Linksys WRT610N Router with cable connections..
Replacing my own Modem seems to reset and then be OK again within a few minutes and the connection restored.
Is it just not possible to substitute a modem ?

No, a modem needs to be registered with Virgin.
Why not just phone up Virgin and ask for another one.
