something happened to my pc and now i cannot open Microsfot outlook

I have microsoft outlook 2007 on my pc and i do not know what happened but i now cannot open microsoft outlook, i am getting the message cnnot start microsoft outlook, Cannot open the outlook window, helpppp pleaseeee, i am runnnning xp prof, I have tried system restore and still it will not open, what can i do please

Try Control Panel, Add & Remove......if its there re-install it.

Go to Start (bottom left of screen) scroll to Control Panel, then Add/Remove. When it loads programs search for Outlook & re-install.

i have found microsoft office small business business 2007 , now if i uninstall that i presume i need to put the disk back in, and install but will i lose everything on here???

What;s to lose? You uninstall, it's gone; you reinstall, it's back again!

All my emails, ok it appears an extension failed to initialise, the file is extend. dat does anyone know where to find this please as apparently i need to find it go to propried and check the box

no need to replace it, search for it and rename it, outlook will recreate that file when it's launched next.

Not sure how you concluded it was extend.dat, but could you not do a "search" on your drives for copies of the file ?

Ideally you should be able to find it on the installation disk. If you don't have that then you may find a copy on your hard drive. As a last resort you could try searching the Internet for a copy.

Ah recreate eh ? That'll teach me to lay off posting until the PC finished a 20 minute search of my C: drive to fail to find it. I guess that may be because I have 2003.

sorry, late and tired!

It's a hidden file, you'll need to set the OS to show hiddens files before you'll find it (or tick search for hidden files in the search options)

goto "Control Panel - Folder Options - View and select show hidden files & folders (best to turn that off once your done with this problem)

Now you've found it, right-click on it, choose Rename and call it extend.old. Or right-click and choose delete (up to you).
When you next start Outlook, it will be rebuilt automatically.
