I hate people who think they know about computers.

I'm no pro at life, I don't have the answer to everything but I've spent sodding years (15+) dealing with computers, computer faults, networking, computer science and scripting - Give me a break people, some times I get sick of people talking a load of crap.

Firsly (and don't take offence) you have given some very good advice, and seem a very nice person who likes to help people, but, (and don't take offence) you have given some very odd or dubious advice in tech on a couple of occasions.
A lot of people do not understand them, this can (normally inwardly) wind me up, but before criticizing them you should remember there are very likely skills they have that you don't.

Wow, wrong side of the bed this morning ?
Hey everyone should be encouraged to try to help. Not everyone can be right. And it is up to the questioner what advice to chose to take, and what to reject.
Try to treat the stuff you read and don't like, like 'water off of a duck's back'. Try not to let it get to you.

Maybe I just snapped. I like this site and, I admit I've had a few issues with some thread but I've never really said anything. I've spent a long time watching people on here and I've noticed a pattern which makes me uncomfortable - all the fighting. Chuck I spent a long time on a server that dealt with computer related problems and, I'd appreciate if you would tell me where I gave 'odd or dubious' advice - I need to know as I like to see where I have made mistakes.

Diz, the one that sicks in my mind recently (I did say this on the thread too BTW) was advising to remove IE by removing it from windows components.
that would leave the computer with no default browser and cause problems if links were clicked on in something like outlook.
if you look just below the windows components button in add remove there is an option to change what programs are used for what, just reset the default browser to whatever else in there.
