1) You buy a computer

2) You learn to use it - buy a book or go on a course

3) You decide what software you use to build your website, and learn how to use it - again, buy a book or go on a course.

4) You purchase and register a domain, and find an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to host it for you.

5) You build your website and publish it on the site hosted by your ISP.

What sort of costs are you looking at to buy a domain?

I can see you come on this site because you enjoy answering questions!

Thanks anyway!
What do you want me to tell you?

You want to build a website because you don't know how. There's only one solution - you'll have to learn. As I said, buy a book or go on a course.

Try this: http://www.amazon.co....qid=1264361582&sr=8-1

Do you have a computer yet...?
Question Author
Well thanks but you don't have to be so sarcastic about it.
karma - oh yes he does. He is always sarcastic
Perhaps you'll tell Karma how to build a website...?
Hi, my domain is through freezone, they are very helpfull, you can use their website builder or use a program like microsoft frontpage. I find this fairly easy to use and is very similar to word. freezone have live chat technical support so can talk you through any problems live and free! they are fairly reasonably priced as well. Hope this helps
^^^ there you are karma. A big improvement on other comments.
Your ISP should be able to provide webspace for a reasonably modest website. Domain registration should only cost a couple of quid a year for a basic package. There are plenty of website building sites on line, usually pretty easy to follow with ready made templates to make use of. Don't go for anything too "clever" to start with, you can always upgrade it when you've got the hang of it.

Thanks very much telephone.

Simple straightforward no nonsense answer thats what I like :-)

Thanks Jason. I was wondering if you could build them online or if you had to buy software. I'll try using the online versions first then.
yeah less arrogance wouldnt go amiss MarkRae as I said earlier today, its downright rude
Not a problem, good luck and like jasonp says, start off simple and its very easy to edit and improve once you get more confidence especially with a program like frontpage
karma - here is an example

you could also consider using a site like ebay to host your site and to sell through, an ebay shop is very good and you get the advantage of not having to pay enhanced search fees to google to get yourself noticed, there are also sites like auctiva. Facebook is another way of getting noticed, you can set up a group or business page and again can get you high up on a search. you can also put a link to your website on your facebook or ebay pages. The biggest cost with websites is getting yourself high up on the search engines

Yeah I was wondering how you do that. I have a lot to learn. I will give it a go though. :-) Many thanks for your help xx
My husband is not particularly compter-minded but he designed our web site using office live - and it's free for the first couple of years.
Karma - what kind of stuff are you hoping to sell. I have opened an EBay account and am hoping to start selling jewellery soon on it
