I moved my PC tower last weekend when laying a carpet. Now the mouse does not work when plugged into the USB port. Ive used it on my laptop so I know its not the mouse. Ive tried searching for new hardware and used various help topics to no avail, the mouse came with the computer and has no installation disk, I just plugged it in and used the set up wizard . I have even opened up the case to check for loose wires. The computer is 4 years old, has it simply got too old or is there something im missing?

Yes nothing else works in the USB's either
Are the ports on a card ... or direct to Motherboard?
If on a card, boot down, reseat the card and try again.
Check device manager for disabled/non-functioning usb entries. Remove and reboot if there are any.
Hope ports are not burnt out. This can and does happen sometime♠s.
You could possibly add a card if they are.
Also check BIOS settings to see if requirement for an enable entry.

The USB's are at the front and back of the PC tower, I presume this means they are linked to the motherboard.
