Screen Pixels & playing games

Does anyone know why playing games would result in the screen size reducing down to 1024x768 pixels during mid game? It starts off ok but when playing for a couple of hours the screen goes black & when it comes back on the screen size has reset itself. The screen then continues flicker on & off & the whole game cannot be seen at the reduced pixels, i.e. the edges are cropped. The only solution is to stop the game & reset the pixels as the computer will not let you do it mid game.

Thanks!

Could be an overheating problem

Try playing with the side of the case off to see if its ok and then come back here with a reply ;)

Unfortunatly it's not done the trick. We can now get the games that make the pixel's shrink play ok if you keep the graphics limited. It was Sega Football Manager & Championship Manager that were responsible & we can now play through the matches without watching the live game in progress & have a text version instead. This works ok, albeit not as good.

I think it must be the graphic card as we have tried to load Splinter Cell & Pro Evo Soccer & they wont play at all well. Back to the shop to upgrade I suspect!

Thanks for your help. :o)
