It depends on what outputs you have on your laptop and what inputs are on the TV. but as you've not said what model either are it's hard to say anything else.
I believe that most laptops have a 15pin vga output socket and most modern plasma/lcd tv's have a vga input socket. Therefore, a standard vga cable should do the job. Of course, you would need to set the TV's output to PC.
"Of course, you would need to set the TV's output to PC."
Or rather, set the TV's input to VGA, and the laptop's output to Monitor

Thank you for all your help, as for the technical stuff, have no idea output on tv / laptop and how to find it, but armed with this info I will have a go.
Thanks for correcting my Freudian slip, Rojash. To identify the VGA port, Kook, you need to look for a 'D' shaped 15 pin female port on the laptop and a similar MALE connector on the TV. Your TV manual will tell you how to select PC input. The lead you require will be like the one which connects between a Desktop PC and a monitor.
