opening .ads files in windows xp

A friend has sent me some .ads files with a viewer on a CD. However when i drag a file to the Viewer, which he also sent, only the text shows, not the .jpg files. Can I get the Viewer to show the images as well. I have windows xp.

I don't know what an ads file is but download VLC media player and use that. This plays anything.
