help for addicted gamblers
If you find yourself tempted towards the Blackjack table ...
... or you feel drawn towards online gambling ...
... you need help.
Step 1 is to recognize the fact that you need help.
Step 2 is to identify the cause of the problem.
For instance ...
If you are dealt a 12, 13, 14, 15 or 16 ... you may be unsure whether to Hit or Stand.
Here’s what I’d suggest.
When the Dealer’s “face up” card is a 7 or higher, the Dealer is statistically likely to have 17 or more, and must Stand.
You should therefore try to improve your hand by Hitting, because the Dealer appears to have a better hand than you, and is unlikely to Bust.
When the Dealer shows a Stiff card (2, 3, 4, 5 or 6), there is a statistical likelihood that the Dealer will Bust. But there is a similar likelihood that you too would Bust if you took a card. Therefore, you should Stand. The Dealer is obliged to take a further card when his total is less than 17, even though he is statistically likely to Bust.
You have therefore swung the odds in your favour.
The only exception that I would play is when the Dealers Up card is a 2 or 3, and you are dealt a 12. There are fewer cards that will Bust your hand, or the Dealer’s hand. The odds against you Busting are about 9/4.
Now ... go and win some money !
