Hi all
I produce my own DVDs but cannot get a noise free speech recording for dubbing purposes. Any ideas as to reducing background hiss etc? I use a simple mic plugged into my PC but the PC fan noise is a major problem. Any ideas as to methodology and suitable mic would be much appreciated

Have you tried using an audio editor such as Audacity?
A fully screened mic like a Shure BG series would be a help.
Premium soundcards are best, as suffer less from microphony and inductance. Creative cards with the front bay are great for this. Ebay!
Find out which fan gives a problem and supress it or change to a good quality quiet fan (big is best!)
