Laptop cd/dvd drive and system recovery

Because of problems with my Sony viao laptop I did a complete system recovery back to factory condition. Since then, if I put a disc into the cd/dvd drive absolutely nothing happens. Anyone any ideas?

Can you see the drive in "My Computer"? If not check this out....roll the screen to "Let me fix it myself" It does need a small change to the registry so read the notes carefully http://support.micros...om/kb/314060#moreinfo

I had a Vista laptop with this problem and the change fixed it.
