If i write music to a dvd r or dvd rw,  can it be played on a ordinary cd player please?

How about: "Unfortunately, no DVDs (either burnt at home or manufactured) can be played in an ordinary CD player as the technology is different: The CD laser can't read the information on a DVD and, as such, DVDs can only be read in a DVD player. Happily, most DVD players will also read burnt DVDs". I think I covered all the salient points to be awarded 3 stars (I was even sympathetic with the first word) <insert smiley face here>
