Firefox to IE8

Hi
Can anyone help? I want to go back to using IE from Firefox as it continually crashes on certain things. I have reloaded it a couple of times now but still the problem persists.
I don't know where to start!! It's the intricate detailing that worries me, like where do I need to click on to ensure that it is going to work ok.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

How to use IE instead of Firefox:
Double-click the IE Icon instead of the Firefox icon. There now, that wasn't so hard was it?
To make IE the default:
Run IE
Click Tools/Internet Options
Click on the Programs tab
Click the button "Make Default"
