Please bear with me on this one

When I switched on my PC earlier I had a message briefly which I couldn’t read in time - however I did glimpse the word ‘ corrupt ’

Windows failed to load up and it gave me the choice amongst others, to load up from - I think it said
‘ last known good configuration ’

Windows after several attempts finally loaded up and there was a message saying that ‘ the system had recovered from a serious fault’ - or words to that effect .

I had a look in Microsoft Security Essentials - antivirus - and in there was the following -

Detected item Alert Level Date Action taken

X Exploit : HTML/IframeRef.gen Severe 04/03/2010 20:29 Removed

Category : Exploit
Description : This program is dangerous and exploit’s the computer on which it is run
Recommendation : Remove this software immediately

Microsoft Security Essentials detected programs that may compromise your privacy or damage your computer . You can still access the files that these programs use without removing them ( not recommended )
To access these files , select the ‘ allow ‘ action and click ‘ apply actions ‘ . If this option is not available , log on as administrator or ask the local administrator for help

ITEMS :

File :C: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

My questions are -
1. Was the corrupted message and the problem loading windows , linked to the message in the Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus ?

2. Is Microsoft Security Essentials , telling me that I should go and remove a program - and if so where do I go , and how do I remove it

Any assistance would be appreciated

Thanks

Thank You
Go to Start/Help & Support/Undo changes with System Restore. You will find a calendar with earlier dates to choose. Set a back date to when the pc was ok.

or

re-install your browser over current settings (usually works with Mozilla)
