lost cd and dvd drives

When i open MY Computer icon i seem to have lost my E DRIVE and F DRIVE indications.  The only drive showing other than C DRIVE is FLOPPY A.

I tried system restore but it doesn't help at all.

I tried reinstall hardware but it couldn't be done because of code 37

Can you help me please

This happened to me the other day, the ribbon cable had come detached from the motherboard, I plugged it back in and both drives were accessible again.

There is a microsoft knowledge base article on this but essentially you have to remove two registry keys. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320553/EN-US/
