hi

im relatively new to pcs and my children want me to download some music and movies for them, unfortunatly im a virgin at downloading so some help would b appriciated...

we have win xp

cdrw

30.8 gb free space

dial up internet

not a lot of money

plenty of time

also my son has a good new phone that new tunes for would be good i suppose . but i dont like viruses or spyware so only recommended sites please!!!

It's not impossible to download media via dial-up, but it will take a long time! I certainly wouldn't recommend trying anything more than music.

 

Your best bet for virus-free downloads is an "official" download site. Costs from 50p to 99p/track. (Google for "music downloads" and you should find some suitable sites like iTunes, Virgin, MyCokeMusic etc). AFAIK there are no sites where you can legally download big theatrical/video release movies. It is, of course, possible to download music and films illegally and for free.
