Wireless dropping connection

Hi, I have a wireless router for broadband internet. I am using a pc connected via a usb dongle. The problem is when im viewing web pages or am talkinging on microsoft messenger it will lose connection, then eiether reconnect several seconds later or freeze up and need rebooting.

However if I am downloading using a programme such as getright the, the connection never drops, this is also the case with online gaming. therfore does anyone know what setting I could change? I hav ealready altered the power options to ensure that it wasnt switching itself off, but as this is clearly based on software as oppose to the hardware does anyone know of a solution?

Check your DHCP lease times on the router. Set it as high as you can.
