I am using Windows 98 (old computer Pentium 11) and want to go onto broadband I've been told to upgrade to 98 SE but am waiting for an upgrade, I can get Windows 2000 staight away is it a better option. Cheers in advance

Youc can do that. But 2000 probly wont support as mant games. Go for win XP or ME.
XP probably won't go on that machine as it is old but 2000 will go on a PI so i think win 2000 is best. win me was the worst that MS put on the market.
Win2k is far more stable than Windows 98 or 98SE. If you do go for it, make sure that the very first thing you do when you get broadband is go to www.windowsupdate.com and get all the security updates available. There are a large number of security vulnerabilities in a fresh install of any operating system, and you should get them fixed straight away.
