I am trying to convert nef to jpeg without loss. I am using fastone image viewer and it loses 80% of the file during conversion. Am I doing something wrong? I sther anything else I could use that wont have this loss? Thanks in advance.

what do you mean by it's losing 80% of it?

if the file is smaller it's because jpeg is a compressed format. if it's the quality you mean then it's also because jpegs are compressed so they lose a bit of quality.

You should be able to change the settings and save the jpeg with less compression (therefore larger and higher quality) or just save it as another format that is not compressed (i.e. a TIFF)

Thanks for that quick responce. I see what you mean, i forgot jpeg is compressed. The neff files are 9.5/10.5meg and are being changed to 1.5mg and less jpeg! Seems a lot to me. I`ll have a fiddle with the software.Cheers.
